Picture Perfect - What Camera Do I Use?

September 30, 2017

Whether you are aspiring to be a professional photographer or just simply enjoy photography as a hobby, this camera is the way to go! I have gotten a few questions on the camera I use, and I wanted to share the one you see on my Instagram. I am by no means an expert on cameras, but I do know that I wanted something better than what the iPhone presented. The iPhone cameras are becoming increasingly better with their quality and depth of field function, but it lacked in quality when taking a picture in a dark setting. That is why I bought the Sony Alpha a5000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with the Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS lens in black.

My sister has an amazing Cannon camera that captures both sharp and vibrant pictures however, it was incredibly large and bulky making it impossible to carry around. This Sony camera is compact, light weight and has amazing technical features that are a must when deciding on a camera. It has Wi-Fi which allows you to send a picture instantly to your phone anytime, anywhere. It also has a flip up screen making selfies or filming videos easier to take without compromising the quality. (I learned that the front screen has better resolution on your iPhone, but that is nearly impossible if your trying to take a selfie). It also allows you to adjust the brightness, skin saturation, smoothness and timer settings right from the camera. The best part? The lenses are interchangeable. This means I have the ability to choose from a lens that blurs the background more so than others, a wide-angle lens, etc. As technology becomes increasingly better, you want your camera and lenses to keep up too.

I am sure there are a ton of great camera options, however after searching around for months this one had the whole package for me! The base of the camera retails for about $392, while the lens itself retails for about $300. As I become more familiar with working the lenses and utilizing all their features, buying lenses will allow me to experiment on different pictures and test out what it can do.
