Let's Talk Foundation (Oily Skin)

January 22, 2019

There is nothing I hate more than having to blot my face with those oil pads because my skin is starting to look like a disco ball. I hate being shiny, and if I purchase a matte foundation, I except it to be matte ALL. DAY. LONG. However, over the years I found out that that is only true if you have the right foundation. Even though the bottle may say “matte” it doesn’t always work, at least for me! My inbox is flooded with messages and the one question that I get most often is, “what foundation do you use?” I can honestly say I only use two foundations despite so many that are sitting in my makeup drawer. I find these to be the best in terms of oil control, full-coverage, and achieving that matte finish!

Tarte Shape Tape Matte Foundation

I remember RUNNING into Ulta looking to buy this product when it first came out because the online store was completely sold out! I swear by this foundation as it keeps my skin oil free, but is super thick (which I prefer) to cover up any dark circles or red spots. The beauty of this foundation is that it also comes in a hydrating formula for those who have dry skin. I can’t say how that will look, but if it is anything like what the company has promised for the matte foundation - I would give it a try! It comes in 25 shades and retails for $39. I suggest going into the store to test the colors because when I tried to match my own skin using the options online, I failed miserably!

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

The second foundation is my OG of all foundations. I have used this since high school and still have not found a reason to give it up. This is the Mac Studio Fluid Foundation! This foundation is beyond thick and has the full coverage aspect down to a T. I find that it is long lasting, but doesn’t crease on my face which is always something I encountered when I used a different foundation. It also ensures that it will control your oil and shine all day which is AHHHMAZING! This retails for $30 which is close to the same price of the Tarte foundation if you are on the fence between one or the other!

If you have tried any of these foundations or have a recommendation, I would love to hear from you!
